"You are not alone." -- Charles Xavier, Professor X Name: Athena De Costa
Nickname/s: 'Thena. Codename: None.
Age: 20. Height: 5'6". Weight: 140lbs. Build: Athena is well-built - not very broad, but they can pack a punch when push comes to shove. S/he might be on the skinny side, but s/he knows how to use hir bony elbows to an advantage.
Abnormalities: Unless her mutation is acting up, Athena looks like a normal - albeit androgynous - human being.
"At least you are not named after a worm, Fraulein." -- Kurt Wagner, Nightcrawler
Mutation: S/he becomes encased in an orange-and-dotted-black field. It emits low-level heat, although s/he can't feel it - or anything else - while the shield is up. Side-Effects: Hir whole body becomes encased in a glowing orange-and-black field, so s/he's quite visible.
Weaknesses: Bringing the shield up is the easy part - putting it back down is where things get tougher. And the shield will pop up on its' own, whenever it thinks she's in danger - gym class is not fun - and, as far as she can tell, whenever it wants to. So uncontrollability is a big weakness for her; it'll power down just as randomly as it powered up. And as for non-mutation-related weaknesses? S/he's certainly very prickly when it comes to gender and sex, and sexuality, so that's a whole can of worms to open if you get hir talking about it. S/he also has a bit of a temper, and can be expecially insecure about new (or dangerous-sounding) things. Strengths: S/he's got a strength of opinion on a wealth of things - and has a fairly more controlled temper than the rest of hir family seems to posess. Hir mutation also allows some strengths - it's not all weaknesses! The force-field/shield/ect is, as far as s/he can tell, impenitrable by any solid. Air can, of course, get in and out - s/he does need to breath. Since s/he's been able to smell things like smoke and food, it seems that smells and other things carries on the air can also penetrate hir shield. s/he can also see through it - it's a transiet kind of opaque orange color to everyone else, with black splotches here and there.
Likes: - The quiet. - Books. - Art. - Old movies. - Pizza. (But who doesn't like pizza?) Dislikes: - Hir body. - Snow. - Large dogs. - Homework. - Being cold.
"Breeding, darling. Top-class breeding." -- Emma Frost, The White Queen
Group: Student
Parents: Mother - Laura Kinney, 'X-23'. Father - Roberto De Costa, 'Sunspot'. Siblings: None.
Pets: She used to have some fish, but they've since died. Others: Nope.
??: Physically female, Athena regards hirself as male - so s/he's settled on mixing pronouns for now, wrapping herself, and dressing as androgynously as s/he can. (So the hirs and s/hes aren't on accident.)
"Sorry. You were getting poetic, and I don't think either of us wanted that." -- Hisako Ichiki, Armor

Roleplay Sample:
Athena scowled at the sky. Everyone else seemed happy as could be that it was finally snowing in Salem - s/he just wished the white flakes would fall somewhere else. It was that s/he hated winter - there were good things about it, if s/he thought long enough - but it was hir least favorite of the seasons. The cloudy skies made depression an all-too-close threat, and the lower temperatures just made everyone that much grumpier when they had to get up in the morning - the mansion was old, and there were plenty of old rooms that had no modern heating installed in them.
But the shield-producing mutant had to admit, the scenery during winter was amazing - if often very stark. The contrast was something s/he could admire, and even occasionally use when s/he tried hir hand at art. So it was with a good view that s/he sat down to breakfast, banana in one hand and pencil in the other - hir math homework spread out in front of hir, half-done and with scribbles and doodles in the margins. It probably wasn't going to be an A+ or anything, but math was hir worst subject - even the easiest of the college-level math courses the school offered was difficult for hir.
Glaring at the papers that she would need to turn in soon, Athena let out an annoyed sigh and bit into her breakfast, shoving back the long sleeves of hir plain black turtleneck to start trying to write down something that might get her a passing grade, hoping s/he wouldn't have to go outside later that day - nor answer any questions in Math.
